David Ford Lykins

David Ford Lykins [Americana/Country]

Ravin' Dave Lykins writes songs about the world in small pieces. Dave's nationally released CD "Blurry White Guy" was recorded in Nashville with Pat Flynn of the New Grass Revival, Chris Leuzinger (Guitarist - Garth Brooks) and (John Gardner Drummer - Dixie Chicks). Dave has performed throughout North America and in England. He is currently playing as a solo artist and with his trio "The Crimebusters". Lykins has a powerful voice and a hard hitting guitar style. An aggressive indie rock sound married to traditional country story telling. Like the Rolling Stones playing some Tom T. Hall or Kristofferson.

Ida Jo

Ida Jo [Folk]

It is easy to wonder where Ida Jo came from. A student of violin from the age of 7, her life has been full of honors including the prestigious Emerson Scholarship to Interlochen Arts Center at the age of 14, and the first of several performances at the Winnipeg Folk Festival at 15.

"I grew up listening to Van Morrison and The Band. The Last Waltz has brought me more joy and inspiration than any other album," she says.

Ida Jo employs a seldom heard violin technique that is developed from a folk fiddle style called "chopping." There are maybe a dozen violinists in the world who use the chopping technique and closer to five who use it with such sophistication as Ida Jo.

Nick Jaina

Nick Jaina [Folk/Pop/Indie]

Nick Jaina is an alt-folk bandleader from Portland, OR, and his is the story of one man's willingness to be obsessed at his own risk. He is a fine writer of prose and if it weren't for his infatuation with music and performing he'd probably be sitting up in his room churning out novels instead of songs. His band, featuring members of Jolie Holland, Loch Lomond, and Laura Gibson, is the result of five albums worth of playing in the streets, touring, sometimes living hungry, and sometimes selling out shows to the ravenous fans who've found them.

SofaKingDumb

SofaKingDumb [Rock/Alternative]

Two-thirds of SofaKingDumb was raised in West Allis, Wisconsin and two-thirds of the band went to Omro High School. What’s the connection you may ask? Caleb Secrest. Caleb and Tim Marszalkowski were both raised in West Allis and both of them had always known the other was balls to the wall. They continued being best friends until Caleb was tragically ripped from his home and moved to Omro, Wisconsin before his freshman year in high school. Omro, a quaint town of 3,500 people, was not the place a blossoming man wanted to be, so being disgruntled Caleb started to play the guitar. Meanwhile, Oliver Wright a vivacious and spirited child started to play guitar at a young age, so naturally he became bombass. He even further honed his skills by rocking in a band called Armada for six years. The fate of SofaKingDumb was bubbling in a cauldron when all three men ended up in Madison, WI for their college schooling. Secondary education, if you will, put the three of them together to tempt easy women, make loads of money, and kick history in the teeth with brain expanding, and sometimes brain exploding melodies.

Castles

Castles [Solo Acoustic]

Once in awhile, a person knows what he will do before even realizing it. In second grade, Wisconsin native Kevin Castillo drew a picture of himself with two friends - himself playing a guitar and singing into a microphone, the other two playing guitar and drums. Showing his work to his friends, Kevin said, "This is us when we're grown up." Fast-forward to the present, and 21-year-old Kevin is working at that same dream he illustrated years before. Castles is the embodiment of that dream. A wide array of influences ranging from jazz to pop rock allows Kevin to write and perform with a fluency that transcends genre labels. Pairing thoughtlessly fluid guitar work with a passionate voice to deliver thoughtful lyrics, Castles comes to life wherever people will listen.

Motorboat

Motorboat [Alternative/Indie/Rock]

Motorboat is a five piece rock and roll band that consists of five very talented musicians with very different musical styles and personalities. This has made for an amazing band chemistry as well as a unique sound.

Motorboat's story began in the bustling metropolis of Belgium, Wisconsin in 2007. They began writing songs and playing cover songs of the bands who had influenced them musically...and that is how the ground work for the band that would become Motorboat was laid down. The members in Motorboat had all been involved in the local music scene previously, but Motorboat is the first time these five would join forces for the cause of Rock and Roll.

2009 was a year of change for Motorboat. Early 2009 saw the addition of Nick D after the departure of their original bassist. 2009 also saw the addition of a second drummer, Gus whose style is drastically different from, but also complimentary to Stephen, their original drummer. This addition provided them with a variation of sound and and musical influences as well as the unique distinction of being a rock and roll band with two drummers. The two drummers often switch in mid-set, although they have been known to play simultaneously. Motorboat plays a wide array of cover songs ranging from Neil Young to Weezer and just about everything in between. They also have original songs that reflect their varying musical influences...but it all boils down to one thing, good rock and roll.

Driftwood

Driftwood [Alt/Rock/Reggae]

As many epics start, there was one; a guitarist who sang to soothe whomever listened. Then one became two; a guitarist/vocalist and a bassist, a bassist who could rock the very ground the two stood on with a single stroke of the E string. Finally, two became three; a guitarist/vocalist, bassist, and, now, a percussionist who could turn heads from one thousand miles away with drum beats that spoke to the very soul of man-kind. Evan Meulemans, Graham Prellwitz, and Dan Waterman are who composed Driftwood then, and who compose Driftwood now.

It was there that they met Jack, and began going on crazy adventures, and writing songs about their feelings. So far, it's turned out pretty okay.

The Guppy Effect [Garage/Punk/Powerpop]

The Guppy Effect puts on a rock show like no other. Yes, they do play some cover songs (they were nominated for BEST COVER BAND OF THE YEAR at the 2009 Madison Area Music Awards), but the presentation is spectacular. They also have many original songs that are catchy and energetic. It’s hard to describe how much fun you will have at a Guppy Effect show unless you come to one.

The Guppy Effect is fronted by singer/songwriter/bassist Cactus Joe, who does not compromise on rocking you thoroughly and completely. To prepare for all-night, non-stop rocking, Joe has a grueling training regimen that includes not just many hours of songwriting and rehearsing, but also running, biking, and weight lifting so that he can bring maximal physical and mental energy to his stage shows. Needless to say, he does not drink or smoke.

Cactus Joe doesn’t party so YOU CAN! Now that’s customer service you won’t find anywhere else. Perhaps that is why Guppy Effect fans just keep coming back for more. Guppy Effect virgin or not, you will leave our shows with a satisfied afterglow, feeling 10 times better (minimum guarantee) than when you arrived.

Kurt Gunn

Kurt Gunn [Solo Acoustic Folk]

There was a time in music when rock stars looked like rock stars. Since the grunge era of the early 90’s the definition of a rock star changed a little. It was less about the image, and more about the music. There was more of a connection to be made by being just like your fans. Kurt Gunn may seem like one of those regular-guys, because he is! Kurt Gunn is an Original Acoustic/Folk Rock song smith that has made a name for himself by playing live shows anywhere there is a stage and people to enjoy it.

With his grassroots approach to winning over fans and an unending appetite for the live show, Kurt is showing why he will be a force to be reckoned with in this business for years to come. The Northeastern Wisconsin Native's acoustic-based music combines many genres and emotions, resulting in one unforgettable sound.

Kurt Gunn is the Founder/President of Wisconsin Songwriters Revival. WSR is a project that is trying to highlight original songwriters and performers in Wisconsin.

Viennaceava [Rock/Metal/Indie]

Viennaceava began in late 2005 under the name Flattened Ambitions with many ex-members (Joe Schuh of Death in the Limelight, amongst others). The members disbanded for a short period and then recreated the band as Viennaceava with members Spencer, Alex, and Travis. They recorded an EP called "Letters for You" and released that on November 20, 2007. Viennaceava's first show was at Kaukauna High School's Battle of the Bands on January 26, 2008. They won the battle but now feel that it was undeserved because they've grown so much since then. In the future, they plan to finish a self-titled CD and keep playing in Wisconsin. They are starting to flirt with different genres of music including some hardcore material and some softer material.

They just finished recording their first demo, Let's Just Be Friends, with Wolfgang's brother Oliver (of Sofa Kingdumb).
